Welcome

"I like St. Ed's. It's a school I fit into". These words, from one of our pupils, capture much of what we strive to do at St. Edmund's: to instil in every child a sense of self esteem and belonging by building on their own talents, opening their eyes to new ones and giving them focused and personal support whenever it is needed.

Academically, it is an approach that continues to pay dividends, with our children going on to a wide range of senior schools. Yet of equal importance are the discoveries, excitements and good old-fashioned fun that St. Edmund's creates inside our 40 beautiful acres. These include an immaculate golf course and indoor pool, and a wealth of activities ranging from cooking and the chapel choir to fencing and shooting. A thriving and optional Saturday morning school activity programme is enabling us to introduce a greater breadth of ideas and new experiences.

We are fully co-educational, with our Nursery and Pre-Prep departments welcoming boys and girls from 2-7, and older children in the Prep school at any age from 7-13. A new senior section for children aged 14-16 opens in September 2014, taking us up to GCSE.

You join us at an interesting time. Pupil numbers are at their highest level in the school’s 130+ year history, yet we retain that small school ethos where we know every pupil well and where every child makes a difference to our community. I hope that you enjoy browsing through our website – we aim to give you a flavour of the unique and at times quirky experience available for your child. If you think that you might be developing a taste for us then do come to see for yourself what it is that makes St. Edmund’s special - you will be very welcome.
