Biathlon 2009

St. Edmund's held its inaugural swim/run biathlon last week making full use of the schools indoor pool and sports fields.   This was a competition for all the children in Year 5 to Year 8 with them competing for a place at the Regional Championships but also for their school houses.  Gill Measures, the South East Region Schools Biathlon coordinator attended the event and presented the prizes.  She was particularly impressed with the excellent running and outstanding swimming from a number of the St. Edmund's boys and girls.  But also commented on the team spirit shown by all the children and how impressed she was that they all were confident enough to attempt both the swim and the run.   A number of the children will now represent the school at the regional Biathlon Championships and it will be interesting to see how their futures in this exciting sport develop.
