Religious Studies

As the world continues to change and evolve, an understanding of religion and culture is increasingly important as students look to engage with the world around them. Students who saw the Coronation of King Charles will have been privy to the depth and richness that religion and faith brings to our society. At St. Edmund’s, in the Lower Prep we look to introduce students to different religions (such as Judaism, Islam and Hinduism) in addition to ensuring that they can see how Christianity has informed elements of British society e.g. Christmas. As well as learning some of the fundamentals to do with religion and faith, students are encouraged to ask questions, explore their own understanding of how religion influences the world around us and to see how and why different faiths hold the beliefs they do.
