History

History is a fantastic subject to study at IGCSE. The study of the past helps pupils discover how the world evolved and contributes to developing their skills to look beyond the headlines, to ask questions properly, and to express their own opinions. History trains minds and teaches pupils how to think and process information. Students will explore the subject from a diversity of perspectives, including social, economic, cultural and political.

Candidates who are awarded grades 4 to 9 in Cambridge IGCSE History are well-prepared for A-Level. Cambridge IGCSE is accepted by universities and employers worldwide as providing proof of historical skills, knowledge and understanding.

All candidates study various aspects of 19th century European history up to and including the First World War. In addition to this, pupils will look at why was there a civil war in the United States and the consequences.

The History room itself has a vast collection of artefacts from the First World War and all items are readily available for the pupils to view and explore.

Furthermore, all pupils who take History IGCSE have the opportunity to visit the Imperial War museum, to help research their coursework and the Somme Battlefields.
