Scholarships & Bursaries
Scholarship Programme
Scholarships are awarded to pupils entering Form 7 (11+) and Form 9 (13+) from the current St. Edmund’s Form 6 and Form 8 cohort, as well as to pupils applying externally.
St. Edmund’s School we celebrate and encourage the talents of our pupils and scholarships are offered in Academia, Art, Drama, Music, Performing Arts and Sport. Our Scholars are expected to demonstrate outstanding achievement, enthusiasm and potential in their chosen field, as well as participate fully in the life of the school. Opportunities exist inside and outside the classroom for our highest achievers to explore their strengths to a deeper level, as well as further develop their talents.
All our Scholars are expected to be excellent ambassadors for the whole school and their departments, as well as demonstrate ongoing dedication to their area of specialism. They are expected to be an inspiration for others.
Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Governors based on the recommendation of the Headmaster. Some Scholarship Awards are honorary but others come with a small remission on annual tuition fees. All scholars have the same status and responsibilities.
All registered pupils for Form 7 and Form 9 entry will be sent full scholarship information (including details regarding the application process / how to apply) in the October preceding entry. Scholarship decisions will be communicated to parents by letter in the February preceding entry.
We have already gone through the scholarship process for Form 7 and Form 9 entry in September 2026.

Scholarship dates for entry to Form 7 and Form 9 in September 2027 will be detailed in the Michaelmas Term 2026.
Bursaries
Bursaries may be awarded to those children whose families have difficulty affording normal school fees and special consideration is given to those children whose parents come from military service backgrounds or where another member of the family is or has been a pupil at St. Edmund’s.
As a first step, parents / guardians are required to formally register their child for entry by completing a registration form.
Following this, parents / guardians should advise the Registrar of their intention in seeking a bursary. They will be asked to complete an application form which seeks to establish the financial circumstances of the household. The Bursar will assess all applications, along with the Head and Governors, and will be in contact with parents requesting a bursary throughout the application process.
