St. Edmund’s, Hindhead Celebrates Excellent GCSE Results
Pupils at St. Edmund’s are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results, reflecting their hard work and achievement across a broad range of subjects.
Headmaster, Adam Walliker praised the year group’s achievements, saying:
“I am immensely proud of our pupils and the excellent GCSE results they have achieved this year.
These outcomes reflect years of hard work, commitment and determination, supported by
outstanding teaching and the encouragement of families. What is particularly impressive is that our
pupils have achieved this success while making such valuable contributions to every aspect of school
life, from sport and music to art and drama and community service. They have shown resilience,
character and enthusiasm throughout their time at St. Edmund’s, and I offer them my warmest
congratulations. I look forward to seeing them build on these strong foundations as they move on to
the next stage of their education.”
This year’s results reflect both the dedication of pupils and the commitment of staff. Despite national
headlines about falling pass rates, St. Edmund’s continues to achieve above-average success. The
school recorded an overall pass rate of 97% (against a national average of 67%), with 88% of grades
at 9–5 (a “good pass” suitable for A Level study), up from 85% last year.
High standards were achieved across key subjects, with an impressive 100% pass rates in English
Literature, Maths and Science, and 99% in English Language (compared to national average pass
rates of 59.5% for English and 57.2% for Maths). Several individual subjects also achieved perfect
outcomes, with English Literature, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Drama, History, Music, and
Sports Science all securing a 100% pass rate.
The proportion of top grades remained strong with 46% of grades awarded at 9–7 (the old A*/A
grade – double the national average of 22%). Value-added scores for the cohort indicate that on
average students improved their predicted grades by 1.0 per subject, a tribute to the innovative
academic arrangements, high standards of pastoral and academic care, and an average class size of
15 pupils.

“I am delighted that the commitment and perseverance shown by our pupils have been rewarded
with such strong GCSE outcomes. Today's young people navigate a world that is constantly evolving
and increasingly demanding, yet they have demonstrated remarkable positivity, courage and
determination throughout. As they move on to the next stage of their educational journeys, I wish
them every success. They leave St. Edmund’s with lasting friendships, invaluable life skills and the
confidence to embrace whatever opportunities lie ahead.”
These results come in a year when the national GCSE pass rate has dropped for the fifth year
running to 67.0%, highlighting the continued resilience and determination of St. Edmund’s pupils.
